There are approximately 220.000 and 125.000 Portuguese citizens registered in the Consulates-General of Portugal in London and Manchester, respectively.

The majority of the community, roughly two thirds, arrived in the United Kingdom before 2011, with a large incidence between 2001 and 2011. Portuguese nationals make up the 9th largest nationality of foreign citizens living in the England and Wales. In some boroughs, such as Lambeth (London) and Great Yarmouth (East Anglia), as well as some areas in Northern Ireland, they are the largest foreign community. The United Kingdom is today the country with the 8th largest Portuguese community in the world.
